Viral Marketing Is The Fastest Way To Spread A Message

Viral Marketing Sells Books
Viral Marketing Gets The Message Out
Viral marketing, based on an idea that popular messages spread like a disease, relies on the social media to work. The first form of viral media is probably the email forwards that people send each other that contain some sort of joke, funny photo or video link.

The way that viral marketing works is that someone finds a funny video or picture sends it to all of their friends to enjoy. In turn, these friends then send it on to their friends until the video or photo has millions of hits online and becomes what is called viral. Viral means that in a short amount of time, millions of people are looking at the same video, photo or message.

Hypothetically speaking, with viral marketing you can make a brand famous overnight, although your message or offer will have to be pretty powerful.
Most viral marketing now is accomplished through YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. If you think of a viral video that you simply have to see on YouTube and the urgency with which you and your friends want to view it, then you understand the power of viral marketing.

To stage your own viral marketing campaign, you can film an outrageous video for YouTube and post it. It may not go viral right away, but by the time it does you can have thousands of people going to your website to look at your product. Most people who go the YouTube route make a series of videos so that there is a lasting effect. A series that makes up a story with a cliffhanger where people want to find out what happens next is particularly effective.

If you want to try a viral marketing campaign on Facebook, you should offer something free.

The offer has to be a good one in order for people to respond to it. If you have your own product, you may run something like a buy one get one free offer. If you run an affiliate marketing campaign, you may be able to talk to your supplier about a special for new customers.

The idea is that the offer will be so good that people who are fans of your Facebook page will tell all of their friends and create a viral marketing campaign for your incredible offer. Of course, everyone who gets the offer will have to sign up for your Facebook page, giving you a bigger following. Remember, the point of a viral marketing campaign is to get more followers and customers, so even if you take a small hit financially, it’s worth it when you count the future sales that you will make.

A viral marketing campaign can also be launched on Twitter. Your Twitter message will include the URL of the page you want people to visit along with a few hashtags. Hashtags are the keywords of your message that have the “#” sign in front of them. This method of viral marketing requires that you have people you can send the message to who will pass it on to their followers, so you will have to have a social network in place on Twitter to make this type of viral marketing effective.
